Farmers Survey

A CALL TO FUTURE FARMERS IN ROMANIA: Who are you? Where are you? And why are you not farming yet?

There exists a realm where ancient wooden gates reminisce about peasant tales and embroidered vests tell a story of their own. This is Țara Călatei -  Kalotaszeg, a land layered in color at the outskirts of Transylvania, Romania, adorned with Romanian and Hungarian traditions like the red tulips sewn onto the blogs of a Sunday festive blouse.

With ALPA we are all about securing land for the future generation of farmers - but we need to find them first. Within SPADES, ALPA plans to participate in co-developing soil-inclusive strategies by providing local expertise in agroecological land use and rural planning. We are diligently working on our pilot farms, expanding in our bioregion Tara Calatei/Kalotaszeg - but we have realised: we need to understand the next generation better.

Enter: our Farmer’s Survey! It serves two key purposes. First, as an open invitation to all young farmers – or those dreaming of becoming one – to connect with us. Second to gather valuable insight into their challenges, motivations, and how they perceive regenerative agriculture. Read more about why we do, what we do here

This is your moment to act. Know someone who dreams of a life in the fields, who believes in sustainability, and could imagine building roots in Transylvania? Share the survey with them!
